Client Overview
One of our client's primary pain points was a growing online fashion brand, whose spend on ads seemed to be increasing, but their returns were not matching up. Their primary goal was clear — improve ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) while increasing overall online revenue.
The Challenge
The brand was heavily relying on broad targeting and generic fashion-related keywords such as:
- "women’s clothing"
- "fashion store online"
- "buy dresses"
While these keywords generated high traffic, the conversion quality was poor. The campaigns attracted users in the awareness stage rather than shoppers ready to purchase.
Initial Performance Metrics:
The business was spending aggressively but struggling to maintain profitability.
Our Google Ads Strategy
After a complete audit of the account, we identified that the biggest issue was inefficient targeting.
1. Shift from Broad to High-Intent Keywords We restructured the entire search campaign strategy by focusing on purchase-intent keywords such as "buy women’s summer dresses online," "premium co-ord sets for women," and "party wear dresses under $100."
2. Search Intent Segmentation We categorized keywords into different intent groups: High Purchase Intent, Brand + Product Searches, Seasonal Fashion Trends, Competitor Search Campaigns, and Remarketing Audiences.
3. Smart Bidding Optimization We shifted from manual CPC bidding to Target ROAS bidding after collecting sufficient conversion data, helping Google’s algorithm prioritize users more likely to convert and generate higher order values.
4. Shopping Campaign Optimization We optimized product titles, feed structure, image quality, and categorization. Best-selling products were separated into dedicated campaigns with higher budgets.
5. Remarketing Campaigns Dynamic remarketing ads were launched targeting cart abandoners, product viewers, and past purchasers to recover lost sales.
Results After 90 Days
The transformation became visible within the first 6 weeks.
Key Outcomes
147% Increase in ROAS: Campaign efficiency and purchase quality were significantly improved. 182% Increase in Revenue: The brand had a 295% increase in monthly revenue from Google Ads. Lower CPA and Higher Profitability: Reduced CPA and increased profitability by optimizing ad spend and minimizing waste.
Conclusion
With the right audience, keywords, and optimization tactics, an underperforming e-commerce campaign can be turned into a profitable revenue stream with a data-driven strategy.
